The Sacred Studs are inspired by the presence of the sacred heart iconography in Mexican culture and history. With roots during the colonial period, the image became a symbol of spiritual strength for the Mexican people. Often adorned with unique elements and motifs, they are common in many religious objects, folk art, paintings, sculptures, and in the form of retablos or ex-votos.
